Star Warsfans know that Order 66 was one of the major turning points in the history of the franchise. The order was given by Darth Sidious (the Emperor) to execute all the Jedi across the galaxy which allowed the Empire and the Sith to rise to power.

While almost all the Jedi were betrayed and shot down by their clone troopers, some were able to survive the initial massacre. While Jedi such as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda are well-known survivors of Order 66, there are a few more that fans may not be aware made it through, although not all of them were able to stay hidden from Darth Vader and the Jedi hunter Inquisitors.

Cal Kestis

Cal Kestis was the protagonist of theJedi: Fallen Ordervideo game who lived through the rise of the Empire. Kestis was also one of the very few Jedi where audiences saw exactly how he survived Order 66.

In flashback sequences throughout the game to Kestis training on a ship as a padawan with his master, Jaro Topal, we saw the exact moment when the Emperor made the call to execute the Jedi. Topal tried to protect Kestis as the two were attacked by clone troopers but eventually sacrificed himself as Kestis evacuated in an escape pod. Kestis then lived in seclusion for years, working on the planet Bracca until he was eventually discovered by the Inquisitors.

Jocasta Nu

A character that perhaps many who watched the feature films didn’t know was actually a Jedi. Jocasta Nu was the chief librarian of the Jedi Archives leading up to Order 66 and was able to survive the initial purge, though it is not exactly known how.

Nu went into hiding and planned to start a new secret academy to train future Jedi. As she returned to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant to retrieve a holocron that contained a list of force-sensitive children, she was found bythe Grand Inquisitorand Darth Vader, with the latter subsequently taking her down.

Kanan Jarrus

Kanan Jarrus, popular mostly from the animated seriesStar Wars Rebels, was another Jedi whose experience of Order 66 was well known. Jarrus, originally named Caleb Dume, was also another padawan who survived Order 66 thanks to the sacrifice of his master, Depa Billaba.

As a padawan, Jarrus was on the planet Kaller with his master and Republic forces during the final days of the Clone Wars. Jarrus was fighting alongside Clone Force 99 (the Bad Batch) when his master was attacked by her battalion nearby and fought them off so he could escape. Sergeant Hunter of the Bad Batch (who was unaffected by the orders) lied to his troop and said he killed Jarrus, when in fact he let him go.

Cere Junda

Those who know Cal Kestis will know of Cere Junda, who also first appeared in theJedi: Fallen Ordervideo game. Junda saved Kestis from Inquisitors on Bracca and let him join her crew.

Junda was a Jedi Knight at the time of Order 66 and managed to fight off clone troopers, escaping with her padawan, Trilla Suduri, and a few younglings to go into hiding. However, Junda was eventually captured by the Empire and gave up their whereabouts, which lead to Suduri being captured, succumbing to the dark side, and becoming an Inquisitor. Junda was able to escape but disconnected herself from the force for years to come.

Kirak Infil’a

Most fans may not be familiar with the Jedi Master Kirak Infil’a, who was seen briefly in a series of comic books. Infil’a initially survived Order 66 as he was living alone in the Jedi Monastery on the moon planet Al’doleem at the time.

Infil’a had taken the Barash Vow as a form of penance, which meant he was far removed from the Jedi Order and its dealings, and instead lived with just the force and trained in combat with a droid on the isolated planet. After surviving Order 66, Infil’a was personally tracked andhunted down by Darth Vader, who was ordered by the Emperor to kill him and steal his lightsaber’s kyber crystal to make a new lightsaber for himself.

Ferren Barr

Ferren Barr was another surviving Jedi whose fate was explored through comic books rather than on the screen. Barr was luckily able to survive the initial massacre as a padawan, though it is not known exactly how.

In the years following, Barr discovered exactly how the Jedi Order fell, the true identity of Darth Vader, and strove to destroy the Empire. Barr recruited a small group of followers and became a Jedi advisor to King Lee-Char on the planet Mon Cala, but was also eventually hunted down by the Inquisitors and killed by Vader.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

The renowned Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi was on the planet Utapau, where he had just defeated separatist leader General Grievous, at the time of Order 66 being executed. Kenobi was shot down by clone troopers off a cliff while riding a varactyl, fell into a pool of water, and was presumed dead.

After escaping Utapau, Kenobi then reunited with Yoda at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, putting out a signal to warn other Jedi not to return. He then fought Anakin Skywalker on Mustafar, leaving him for dead, and went into exile on Tatooine to watch over Anakin’s son Luke, which will be explored in the newObi-Wan Kenobitelevision series.

Thanks to his prowess with both the forceand his lightsaber, Jedi Master Yoda narrowly avoided being assassinated by clone troopers while on the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk. As the call for Order 66 was given, the clones behind Yoda aimed their blasters at him ready to shoot, but the wise master clued on and took out the clones with one strike.

After returning to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant with Obi-Wan Kenobi and fighting off more clones, Yoda then went into hiding on the planet Dagobah, where he spent the rest of his days and eventually trained Luke Skywalker.

Quinlan Vos

Quinlan Vos was a unique Jedi who fans may be more familiar with if they watchedThe Clone Wars. Vos was the master of Aayla Secura and had a special ability that allowed him to see people’s memories by touching objects they had come in contact with.

Thanks to some help from others, Vos was presumed dead after Order 66, but it was not officially known whether he was alive or not. He was put on a list of potential survivors who were targets for the Inquisitors to hunt down, but his fate remained a mystery.

Ahsoka Tano

One of the most iconic characters inStar Warsyet to appear in feature films, Ahsoka Tano, was technically not a Jedi at the time of Order 66 but was still a target during the massacre and had to fight for her life.

Tano was on a large Republic starship full of clone troopers when the order was given, and they turned on her. Tano released Darth Maul, who was a prisoner aboard the ship, as a distraction and used droids to help remove the inhibitor chip of long-time friend and clone captain, Rex. The two fought their way out and managed to escape the ship, faked their own deaths, and went into exile.
