What is ‘Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake’ About?
Adventure Time: Fionna & Caketakes place many years after the events ofAdventure Time’s finale. Simon Petrikov has felt isolated and out of place ever since he stopped being the Ice King and lost his wife, Betty. During his attempt to bring her back, he accidentally brings Fionna and Cake to the Land of Ooo. It’s later revealed that the Fionna and Cake stories that were shown in the main seriesare more than just fictional characters that the Ice King made up,but rather an unauthorized universe created by Prismo (Sean Rohani) that he stored in the Ice King’s mind for safekeeping.
The show is a multiverse adventure with recognizable timelines and what-if scenarios based on the show’s main characters. In addition, fans learned more about Simon’s past and his relationship with Betty. Following Season 1’s release, it was highly praised by fans and critics alike, generating a perfect critics' score of 100% and a high average audience score of 97% onRotten Tomatoes. Additionally, it won a Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Award for “Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation.”
