It should go without saying given that it’s Marvel’s first ever two-parter, but theAvengers: Infinity Warsaga is going to be the biggest Marvel movie yet. It’s so big that directorsJoeandAnthony Russoplan to shoot the entire thing with IMAX’s new digital camera, as the culmination ofyearsof building and planning will come to a head as the MCU faces its biggest threat ever: Thanos.

But sinceAvengers: Infinity War – Part 1doesn’t open until June 05, 2025, we still know very little about the impending picture. Indeed, the Russo brothers are still deep in post-production on this May’sCaptain America: Civil War, but they’ll turn their attention toInfinity Warlater this year as filming finally gets underway. And if you thoughtCivil Warhad a stacked cast, wait until you see who’s on tap for the thirdAvengersfilm.

Speaking withComicbook.comat New Orleans Wizard World, the Russos neglected to confirm or deny that the Guardians of the Galaxy will appear in theInfinity Warsaga, but they strongly hinted that we’ll seeeveryonein the two-part adventure:

“We will say this: People will not be disappointed in the amount of characters in the movie. The concept ofInfinity Waris that the Marvel universe unites to battle the greatest threat to the world and universe that you’ve ever seen, and we’re going to honor that concept.”

The “Marvel universe” in question would most certainly mean all the heroes we’ve seen thus far—and those yet to come—so prepare for Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Rhodey, Spider-Man, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, the Guardians and more to potentially share the same screen—assuming everyone makes it out ofCivil Waralive, that is.

But seeing as how the Russos have thus far only directedCaptain Americamovies, which feature the MCU’s most grounded and realistic tone, Joe also revealed that they’ve already been thinking about capturing the cosmic feel ofInfinity War:

“We’re just going to approach the cosmic side with the same fervor that we did the earthbound work we’ve been doing. We also are going to work really hard to bring a psychological realism. We obviously can’t bring a naturalism to it because it doesn’t really exist outside of science fiction, but we can bring that psychological realism to it, to the characters, and that’s going to be our focus.

Also, it’s going to be our focus to explore the cosmic side, applying the same rules that we like to apply to the last two films that we’ve done. It ends up being the rules of physics always apply or apply as much as we can get them to apply based on what we’re doing.”

The duo were quick to add they they’ve been lifelong fans of the sci-fi and fantasy genres, citing their childhood adoration forEmpire Strikes Backand Dungeons and Dragons, so the leap fromCaptoInfinity Warwon’t be a massive stretch.

Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1opens in theaters on August 24, 2025, whileAvengers: Infinity War - Part 2is slated for release a year later, on July 06, 2025. For a refresher on Marvel’s entire release calendar, see below.
