FilmmakerDrake Doremusis sticking with the sci-fi genre for his next film. The director behindLike Crazymost recently helmed the gorgeous, emotionally affecting sci-fi love storyEquals, starringKristen StewartandNicholas Hoult, and he’s now putting together his next project: another sci-fi love story. PerTHR,Charlie HunnamandLea Seydouxare set to lead the cast of the untitled picture, for which story details are being kept under wraps.

Doremus is known for shooting highly improvised films on which the actors concoct much of the dialogue themselves, butEqualswas more script driven than anything he’d done before, working from a screenplay byNathan Parker. For this next project, Doremus is teaming up with playwrightRich Greenburg, who’s handling script duties.Ridley Scott’s production company Scott Free is once again producing after backingEquals.

As a big fan of Doremus’ work—his alluringLike Crazyfollow-upBreathe Inwas criminally underseen—I’m all in for this next project, and I’ll be curious to see how this sci-fi love story stands apart fromEquals, which took place in a future where humans were medically drained of emotion.

Hunnam most recently worked withGuillermo del Toroon back-to-back projectsPacific RimandCrimson Peak, and he’ll be seen next year on the big screen leadingGuy Ritchie’s fantasy retellingKing Arthur: Legend of the Sword, which could be a potential franchise play. Hunnam also stars inJames Gray’s highly anticipated follow-up to his acclaimed dramaThe Immigrant,The Lost City of Z, which also starsRobert PattinsonandTom Hollandand debuts at this year’s New York Film Festival.

French actress Seydoux, meanwhile, took on the “Bond Girl” moniker oppositeDaniel Craigin last year’sSpectreand earlier this year starred inYorgos Lanthimos’ critically acclaimed filmThe Lobster. She appears in the next film fromXavier Dolan,It’s Only the End of the World, and flirted with the prospect of starring in theX-MenspinoffGambitoppositeChanning Tatumthat was supposed to start filming last fall, but it’s unclear if she’s still attached to that project given its significant delays.

Whatisclear, however, is that these two performers are keen on working with highly talented filmmakers, and they’ll continue that streak with Doremus.
