Christopher Nolan’strilogy of Batman filmsis set to return…in Lego form. TT Games has just announcedLego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, a newLegovideo game that will homageBatman Begins,The Dark Knight, andThe Dark Knight Riseswith the franchise’s signature Lego-fied sense of humor. Need convincing? British comedy legendMatt Berry(What We Do in the Shadows) will provide the dulcet tones of the masked supervillain Bane.

The game will very loosely follow the arc of the three films. It will begin with the young Bruce Wayne training with the League of Shadows, then follow him as he returns to Gotham City, building a team of allies including Jim Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl,Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul, as he faces off against some of his deadliest foes…some from the Nolan films, likethe Joker, Ra’s al Ghul, and Bane, and others that didn’t make it in, including the Penguin and Poison Ivy. The game promises a dynamic new combat system that includes fluid attack chains, counters, and over-the-top takedowns, as well as Batman’s arsenal of “wonderful toys,” including the Batarang and the Batclaw. Players can secure an exclusive in-game Golden Age Batman costume, inspired by the Caped Crusader’s first appearance inDetective Comics#27, by signing up for a WB Games account.

Who Is Bane?

Created byChuck Dixon,Doug Moench, andGraham Nolanin 1993’sBatman: Vengeance of Bane#1, Bane was raised in a brutal prison as penance for his father’s crimes, and built himself into a physical and intellectual powerhouse. Plagued by nightmares about bats since childhood, he believed it was his destiny to destroy Batman. Dosed with the steroid Venom to increase his strength, he made an immediate splash in Gotham by breaking Batman’s back. That forced Bruce Wayne to temporarily hang up the cowl before returning to defeat Bane, who became a regular member of his rogues gallery. The character has appeared in a number of Batman film and TV projects: he was portrayed by pro wrestlerJeep Swensonin 1997’sBatman and Robin, but made a bigger impact as portrayed byTom HardyinThe Dark Knight Rises. Hardy’s distinct vocalizations for the character made him instantly iconic, and several subsequent adaptations of the character, includingDoug Benson’s inTheLegoBatman MovieandJames Adomian’s inHarley Quinnand its spin-off,Kite-Man: Hell Yeah!, take their cue from Hardy’s.

British actor, comedian, and musician Matt Berry appeared in a number of cult British comedy series, includingGareth Marenghi’s Darkplace,The Mighty Boosh, andToast of Londonbefore breaking out worldwide as pompous vampire Laszlo Cravensworth on FX’sWhat We Do in the Shadows. He is next set to lend his voice to the animated featuresRogue TrooperandThe Cat in the Hat.
