From a Deadline exclusive,Hulu has orderedRunaways, the Marvel drama series fromGossip GirlcreatorsJosh Schwartz&Stephanie Savage, Marvel Television and ABC Signature. The order is for a pilot plus additional scripts, based on the fan-favorite Marvel comics, with an eye toward a full-season greenlight. Created byBrian K. VaughanandAdrian Alphona, theRunawayscomics feature a group of teenagers who discover that their parents are part of an evil crime organization. Marvel’sRunawayswill tell the story of six diverse teenagers who can barely stand each other but who must unite against a common foe – their parents.

Robert Downey Jr.has been trying to get aPerry Masonreboot off the ground for a while. He first tried to pitch it as a movie with Warner Bros. in 2011, but now, thanks to a Variety exclusive, Downey Jr.’sPerry Masonproject has found new life at HBO. The actor best known for playing Iron Man, will reportedly be producing and starring in the series, withTrue DetectivecreatorNic Pizzolattowriting. Nothing’s been confirmed yet, and both RDJ and Pizzolatto have yet to comment on their project.
SUPERHERO RUNDOWN
In an interview with EWAndrew Kreisberg, executive producer ofThe Flashon The CW offered the possibility thatZoomactorTeddy Searscould return as Black Flash. Kreisberg told the site. “We love working with Teddy. He’s such an amazing actor and amazing person, and was so much a part of the success of this show last season.” For those who aren’t familiar with Black Flash, in the comics the character appears as an omen of death to those connected to the Speed Force. That doesn’t mean he’ll necessarily play the same role in the TV show, but the creators definitely want to keep the character in play.
