Are you pumped? Cause I sure as hell am. We’re only two months away from the release of the second season ofDaredevil, and Netflix has been teasing a myriad of new turns for the series in its anticipated second run. The most notable of these turns would be the long-touted introduction of the Punisher, played byThe Walking Dead’sJon Bernthal, a character that has yet to be given a proper introduction in either film or television. There are interesting, even promising aspects to all three of the previous incarnations of the character, fromDolph Lundgren’s game attempt in the early 1990s to the more sober, hammy take anchored byThomas Janein the early aughts toRay Stevenson’s enjoyable, pulpy variation inPunisher: War Zone. And yet, none of these have fully satisfied or given the character the fullness that he deserves, a fact thatDaredevilseason 2 and Bernthal seem dead-set on correcting.
And from the look of the latest trailer for season 2, which Netflix posted to Twitter early this morning, his introduction will mean a whole world of hurt for Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), the blind lawyer who becomes an ass-kicking vigilante by night. The trailer essentially recaps the superb first season of the Netflix-Marvel series before a hail of bullets destroys the house of faith that those moments have created, assumedly coming from Bernthal’s violent ex-military strongman. you may check out the trailer right below:

Unfortunately, the trailer doesn’t really give any more hints as to how Daredevil and The Punisher will finally have their meet-not-so-cute, but it definitely amps up anticipation for the series. It also gives us a concrete release date for the second season - March 18th - and debunks the rumor thatDaredevil’s second go around would be going head-to-head with DC’s latest cinematic attempt,Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which will be released the following weekend on March 25th. This averts a showdown between the two comic giants, which might have been interesting if Netflix’s numbers were a bit more regularly available for comparison, but is likely better in the long-run. That being said, considering how people like to now take their time with Netflix shows rather than simply binging, there’s still a huge likelihood thatDaredevil’s fanbase will at least eat into the rush to seeZack Snyder’s latest on opening weekend, if not nearly as much as a same-day release.
As a bonus, we’ve got a brand new poster forDaredevil’s second season, which you’re able to take a look at right below:
