After years of headlines, legal filings, and a very public battle over speech and accountability,The Mandalorian’smost controversial former star has reached a truce with Disney.Gina Carano, who played Cara Dunein the hitStar Warsseries before being fired in 2021, has officially settled her wrongful termination lawsuit against Lucasfilm and the Walt Disney Company. The news comes after Carano filed suit last year in California federal court, seeking at least $75,000in damages and arguing that her firing was discriminatory and politically motivated. The suit was backed financially byElon Musk, the billionaire owner of X (formerly Twitter), who has publicly vowed to support people fired over their posts on the platform.

In a statement released Thursday, a Lucasfilm spokesperson confirmed the dispute had been resolved:

“The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies. Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect. With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.”

How Did Gina Carano Settle?

The settlement is a serious plot twist for a saga that once seemed destined for a long and bitter court battle withdirty laundry being aired in public. Carano had made waves with several controversial social media posts in 2021, most infamously comparing the treatment of conservatives inmodern America to Jews during the Holocaust. The backlash was immediate. She was dropped by both Lucasfilm and her talent agency, UTA, and became a figurehead for those protesting “cancel culture”, going on to stand with figures likeKevin SorboandBen Shapiro.

While no details of the settlement were disclosed, Lucasfilm’s language — especially the mention of “identifying opportunities to work together” — has raised eyebrows. Could this mean a return to the galaxy far, far away for Carano, or is it just corporate diplomacy? For now, she hasn’t officially responded to the possibility ofrejoiningStar Wars, though she did offer one cryptic quote on social media:

“… and the truth shall set you free.”

With this chapter seemingly closed, both Carano and Disney appear ready to move forward — though whether it’s together or not remains to be seen.
