Vengeanceis coming forAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.next season. Fans have already seena first lookat actorGabriel Lunariding onto the small screen as Robbie Reyes, a.k.a. Ghost Rider, but a new TV spot and sneak peek image provide the first look at his, shall we say, hotterlook.
“They say when the Rider burns you, he burns your soul,” says a voice in the TV spot, which features Robbie piloting a 1969 Dodge Charger with flaming wheels that he barrels into a screaming, chained thug. Unlike Johnny Blaze, Reyes’ version of Ghost Rider came about when he rose from the dead after being gunned down. In the show, he works as a mechanic in East Los Angeles, and the network has teased his presence will change everything.

Elsewhere,Yahooreleased the first look image of Reyes’ fiery transformation into the Spirit of Vengeance. “The Ghost Rider is a completely separate thing from Robbie,” Luna hadsaidof the character. “It’s something that always inhabits his body and something that he always has to fight. It’s an evil thing. That’s what they have maintained in the writing.”
Nic Cagefirst appeared on the big screen as Ghost Rider by way of Johnny Blaze, but those films didn’t catch on. In 2013, the rights to the character reverted back to Marvel around the same time as Daredevil and Blade. Now, about three years later, we find the familiar flaming skull back on the screen, presumably in the first episode ofS.H.I.E.L.D.season 4 since it’s titled “The Ghost.” Perhaps this also means that Marvel will have more success in developing Blade (previously portrayed byWesley Snipes) on TV in light of the triumph of Netflix’sDaredevil.

Agents of SHIELDreturns to ABC on September 20th.
