Happy St. Hetty’s Day to all who celebrate! With the latest episode ofGhosts, we’ve finally learned the ghost powers of the main eight ghosts haunting the grounds of the Woodstone B&B. In the episode,Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky)learns she can be seen on St. Patrick’s Day now, following the revelation of her own Irish heritage. But how does Hetty’s power stack up against the others in the house? While we’re just ranking the powers of the main eight, it’s worth mentioning that Hetty’s is not the only ghost power we’ve learned of this season. Earlier this year we saw the basement ghosts actually unleash cholera onJay’s (Utkarsh Ambudkar)new line cooks, and in this very episode, we saw new ghost Chris (Deniz Akdeniz) parachute away from the property with a similar, yet possibly even cooler, version ofPete’s (Richie Moriarty) power.
With such an expansive ensemble as well,Ghostsstill has plenty of background characters whose powers have not been revealed yet, includingStephanie (O’Dessa A’Zion), Carol (Caroline Aaron), and all the British ghosts from the shed. But without further ado, here are the powers of the main eight ghosts of Woodstone, ranked.

Ghosts (US)
8Isaac Higgintoot
Produces a Fart Smell When Walked Through
Let’s be honest —Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones)was always going to come in last on this list. Having died tragically of dysentery, Isaac produces a pungent fart smell when he’s walked through. His power references the original BBC series character Mary, who was burnt at the stake and produces a burning flesh smell when she’s walked through. Not only is the power actively gross, but it’s also not super useful outside highly specific situations like getting Jay’s attention.
Isaac’s ability can also only be activated when he’s walked through, something that causes the ghosts a great deal of pain, as established in the pilot episode. While Isaac may have the objectively least cool power, the show has gotten plenty of mileage out of it with both moments of bravery from Isaac and the simple hilarity of a classic fart joke. It would be fun to seeGhostshave Isaac use his power with more intent again in the future.

7Flower Montero
Makes Livings High for 30 Minutes When Walked Through
Another power only activated when walked through,Flower (Sheila Carrasco), has the ability to make living persons experience the effects of weed and shrooms, as she died while inebriated during a music festival. While this is objectively cooler than Isaac’s power, especially if you happen to enjoy a bit of recreational activity, it’s still a power that causes Flower a great deal of pain, with only a moderate amount of usefulness.
The show has used Flower’s power a few times for hijinks and misadventures, creating some fun moments, including Jay cooking while stoned and Flower using her power to distract a difficult-to-please guest. With Flower going missing for much of Season 3, it’s been a while since her gifts have been used in the series.

6Alberta Haynes
Can Be Heard by Livings When She Hums
Alberta (Danielle Pinnock)has gotten a lot of flack this season for having a “lame humming power,” but as we saw in “The Bachelorette Party,” Alberta’s ability to be heard in the living world when she hums can be incredibly moving. Alberta’s power comes not from how she died but how she lived as a beloved jazz singer in the 1920s. For quite some time, Alberta getting to sing with her great-grandniece in Season 2 was considered one of the best moments in the show, and in Season 4,Ghoststook that moment to the next level. “The Bachelorette Party” sees Alberta getting to hum a ghostly tune for Alicia (Ashley Kelley) where she can actually hear it, sing along, and understand the message her ancestor is sending her.
Though she’s only used it in the episode it was introduced in, Alberta does have a sort of bonus power as well. While she can only be heard by the living when she hums, Alberta can speak directly to the Alexa. Though the writers may view the Alexa as too easy a solution for the show’sclassic miscommunication storylines, there’s plenty of fun to be had here, even if Alberta’s just using the Alexa to order a stack ofJason Momoamagazines.

Can Manipulate Electricity
The oldest ghost on the property,Thorfinn (Devan Chandler Long)died over a century ago when he was struck by lightning and can now channel electricity. Thor’s power is most frequently shown in instances where he has an emotion so intense he can’t help but set all the lights in Woodstone mansion a-flickering. However, he’s also used it to give somewhat unclear signs to the livings.
Thor’s power especially comes in handy in the second possession episode, in which he’s able to still use his powers while in Sam’s body. When Bela’s (Punam Patel) boyfriend dies in a possession accident gone wrong, Thor is able to bring him back to life with his powers. As Thor would say, pretty cool! Given that he died before the advent of electricity, the show could explore when Thor first learned of his power, and whether-or-not it manifested in other ways before that.

4Hetty Woodstone
Can Be Seen by Livings But Only on St. Patrick’s Day
The newest member of the ghostly Woodstone family to get her power, we just learned that Hetty can be seen by livings seemingly once a year on St. Patrick’s Day. Having previously held prejudice against the Irish long into her death, Hetty’s power did not manifest untilthe knowledge that she is Irishallowed her to let go of her misguided beliefs. Manifesting somewhat as a reward for learning and growing during her time in purgatory, Hetty’s power allowed her to have a sweet, albeit brief, romance with Jay’s cousin Sunil (Asif Ali), giving her the opportunity toactually feelseen— in more ways than one— in the first time in 150 years.
While Hetty’s power is phenomenal, allowing her to communicate with livings almost as if she’s still alive, it doesn’t come without its limitations. When the clock strikes midnight, Hetty poofs back into the land of the dead with her fellow ghosts. While keeping her humble, for one, her power being linked to a specific holiday opens up the possibility for annual St. Hetty’s Day episodes in the vein of the show’s yearly Halloween and Christmas specials.
3Trevor Lefkowitz
Can Touch Things in the Living World
Officially entering the “god-like powers” zone, as Pete put it,Trevor (Asher Grodman)has the ability to touch things in the living world. Trevor’s power is potentially the most used onGhosts— he presses buttons on the TV remote and the kitchen iPad in almost every episode — and therefore, perhaps the most practically useful. Trevor’s power has allowed him to be Isaac’s money manager and even hold down his own job at a finance firm.
Trevor’s ability to interact with the living world, with a significant amount of effort, has also made him feel as though he still has a hand in life despite being dead for nearly 25 years.Ghostscan do quite a bit with Trevor’s power; he recently used his gift to bribe a restaurant critic on Jay’s behalf. Moving forward, more of these ridiculous shenanigans are certainly welcome, as is the use of his power for more physical comedy.
2Pete Martino
Can Leave the Property for a Limited Time
Objectively — from the point of view of a ghost — Pete does have the coolest power. Having been a travel agent in life yet never really traveling himself, Pete has the ability to leave the property for a limited time before he starts disappearing. His power has taken him to vacations on tropical islands, Christmas morning with his daughter, and even all the way to Norway.
The main drawback of Pete’s power as a viewer is that most of his adventures happen off-screen. Pete’s also gone to Budapest, local restaurants, and MMA fights, but we, and the other ghosts, typically only hear about his escapades rather than getting to accompany him. However, his ability to travel the world allows the show to go virtually anywhere and introduce new ghosts as well. His power could even allow for some cheeky nods to the original BBC series or theGerman,French, andAustralianadaptations currently in the works.
Can Enter the Dreams of Livings
While Pete may have labeled him only “tier one adjacent,” we’ve got to putSasappis' (Román Zaragoza)ability to dreamwalk at the top. Much like Pete’s ability, Sass’ ability to enter the dreams of the living allows the show to go far beyond the walls of the Woodstone B&B. However, because Sass never actually leaves the property, his dream sequences often feature familiar faces, most notably Jay, who is able to feel more connected to the ghosts through his unconscious friendship with Sass.
Because Sass is entering dreams, he’s also able to experience things he never did in life — including new costumes and even the ability to play guitar. While these adventures may have little bearing on the physical world, they’re thrilling to watch as a viewer. Because anything can happen in dreams, Sass’ power has almost no real limitations from a storytelling perspective — fitting as Sass himself was a storyteller in life.
