In 2012,Sean William Scottfirst appeared as Doug “The Thug” Glatt, a bouncer turned semi-pro hockey player, and the actor has been teasing a sequel ever since. While that tease may have seemed like a fun idea that would never come to fruition—it actually has!Goon: Last of the Enforcers, has a release date next year and an official pic to prove it.

As announced today, theGoonsequel will hit Canadian theaters on June 03, 2025. An American release hasn’t been announced, but the first film followeda similar release schedule: it debuted in overseas territories in January, and hit theaters in Canada the same day it hit VOD in the U.S. a month later. The film then opened in a limited theatrical release in American that March.

Goon: The Last Enforcerstarted filminglast year in Toronto, andJay Baruchel, who’s reprising his role of Doug’s best friend Pat, is making hisdirectorial debut. He also co-wrote the script withJesse Chabot.Liev Schreiberalso returns as Ross “The Boss” Rhea, whileMarc-Andre Grondinplays Xavier LaFlamme,Kim Coatesplays Highlanders Coach Ronnie Hortense, andAlison Pillplays Doug’s wife Eva.

Elsewhere,Wyatt Russellplays Anders Cain, described as “a young, volatile hot shot who becomes Captain of the Halifax Highlanders when a pro lockout suddenly sends a slew of new players down to the minors.”Elisha Cuthbertplays Mary, “sister and confidante of Eva, who we now find married to Doug.”

The official still accompanying the announcement focuses on Scott and Schreiber’s characters brawling on the ice. Scott has segued into a number of voice-acting roles as of late (hear his work as Crash in theIce Agemovies), but his glory days was in the early 2000s.Goonwas a continuation of the similar brash personas found in movies likeAmerican Pie,Road Trip, andOld School.American Reunionwas a test to see if audiences wanted more Stifler, and while that didn’t seem to warrant another sequel, fans seemed to have maintained theirGoonspirit.
