More news in the world of book-to-screen adaptations. This time it’s two formerGossip Girlco-stars (yes, one episode counts) that will star opposite one another in a new book adaptation. The romantic comedyYou Deserve Each OtherbySarah Hogleis being adapted for the screen and, according to the Hollywood Reporter, hasPenn BadgleyandMeghann Fahyattached to star. The flick will be directed byMarc SilversteinandAbby Kohn, the pens behind romcoms likeNever Been KissedandHe’s Just Not That Into You. The pair also revisedBrett HaleyandMarc Basch’s initial script for theYou Deserve Each Otheradaptation.You Deserve Each Other’s logline is as folllows:
“Naomi Westfield has the perfect fiancé: Nicholas Rose holds doors open for her, remembers her restaurant orders, and comes from the kind of upstanding society family any bride would love to be a part of. They never fight. They’re preparing for their lavish wedding that’s three months away. And she is miserably and utterly sick of him.
Naomi wants out, but there’s a catch: whoever ends the engagement will have to foot the nonrefundable wedding bill. When Naomi discovers that Nicholas, too, has been feigning contentment, the two of them go head-to-head in a battle of pranks, sabotage, and all-out emotional warfare.

The Rom-Com Adaptations Just Don’t Stop Coming
Another name synonymous with modern rom-com books isEmily Henry. It was just announced that the upcoming adaptation of her bookPeople We Meet on Vacationwill hit Netflix screens August 16, 2025. The movie starsEmily Bader(My Lady Jane) andTom Blyth(The Ballad of the Songbirds and Snakes) as Poppy and Alex. Alongside the release date, a fun social media video was released that featured Bader and Blyth’s voices reciting lines from the upcoming rom-com. Three other of Henry’s books:Beach Read,Book Lovers, andHappy Place, also have adaptations in the works.According to Deadline,Yulin Kuangis attached to direct the adaptation of Beach Read,Sarah Heywardwill pen the script for Book Lovers,Jennifer Lopez’sNuyorican Productionsjust recently optionedHappy Place.
