Marvel has owned the first week of May—basically the start of the Summer Movie Season—almost every year since 2008, and they’ll have it once again withGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which should kick the summer off with a bang. The movie looks ridiculously fun, and whileGuardiansis no longer the giant question mark it was back in 2014, I’m willing to bet that writer-directorJames Gunnstill has more than a few surprises up his sleeve. I’m excited for Marvel to get cosmic again, and I like these characters so much that I don’t really mind if the film connects to the larger MCU or not. I just want to see the Guardians be a lovable team of rogues going on interplanetary adventures.
