After a too-long delay,Halloween Killshas finally been released to audiences. As the second installment in this trilogy—or quadrilogy if you include the 1978 classic—a high body count has certainly limited who will return inHalloween Ends. It was always going to be a bloodbath and when the dust settled, the film lived up to its title with a heavy dose of carnage.

Now that several days have passed since its theatrical and Peacock release, it’s time to come to grips with the aftermath. Of the potential victims by Michael Myers, there were the survivors from the last entry, returning legacy characters, and even Haddonfield residents minding their own business. Did your favorite character make it or did they find out what happens when you get into close contact with the Boogeyman?

Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis)

Status:Alive

Recovering from her encounter with Michael on the same night stretching over fromHalloween(2018), Laurie is not in the best condition whenHalloween Killsstarts. That might be an understatement. Being star-billed on the film’s marketing, of course Laurie survives. But the recovery is not quick, as Laurie spends all of the film’s runtime at Haddonfield Memorial. By the film’s end, she remains in her room, unaware of the final onslaught Michael has released. For sure, comeHalloween Ends, fans will see a more enraged Laurie than ever before.

Karen Nelson (Judy Greer)

Status:Dead

The MVP of the film, Karen proves herself to be the daughter of Laurie Strode on more than one occasion. When a mob takes over Haddonfield Memorial, it’s Karen who steps up to try and save the life of a man mistaken for the masked slasher villain.

Her next act of heroism comes in the last act. When Michael looms over Allyson, his knife inches from her flesh, Karen sends a pitchfork into his back before luring him out to the streets, where Haddonfield residents plan to kill the Boogeyman. Of course, the plan fails. When Karen investigates the upstairs of the Myers house, Michael comes up behind her. He stabs her, seemingly to death. No doubt, she will be avenged in the final chapter.

Allyson Nelson (Andi Matichak)

With the legacy of her grandmother as a Final Girl, Allyson was destined to follow in her footsteps. She instantly takes up the opportunity to track Michael, teaming up with her boyfriend, Cameron and legacy characters Tommy Doyle and Lonnie Elam. She survives the night, thanks to her mother’s good timing. By the end, along with her grandmother, Michael has made an even greater foe in Allyson.

Tommy Doyle (Anthony Michael Hall)

Tommy was the young boy Laurie watched over in 1978, but a lot has changed. Tommy incites the mob in Haddonfield Memorial that leads to the death of a man wrongfully identified as Michael Myers. He was bound to face consequences. In the film’s finale, Tommy traps Michael on a street and uses all of his pent-up anger to beat him down with a bat. But the Boogeyman doesn’t know how to quit. Instead, Michael rises, stabs Tommy, and steals his bat. He swings it into Tommy’s face, blood spraying up high.Tommy’s last sightis Michael’s dark eyes staring back at him. He isn’t the only legacy character to meet a grim fate.

Deputy Frank Hawkins (Will Patton)

The last time audiences saw Deputy Hawkins inHalloween(2018), he was bleeding from a neck wound and run over by his own vehicle, but the apparently very sturdy officer survived all thatandthe entirety ofHalloween Kills. Found by Cameron, Hawkins is admitted to Haddonfield Memorial and becomes Laurie’s roommate. But while he’s out of the action, he reveals two crucial storylines. The first is in a flashback to 1978, when he helped in stopping Dr. Loomis from shooting a captured Michael in the head. The second is that despite what Laurie believes, Hawkins knows Michael wasn’t actively searching for her earlier in the night. Instead, Michael was heading to his childhood home, with no motivation behind his killings.

Sheriff Barker (Omar Dorsey)

Barker resolved that cancelling Halloween due to Michael’s escape in 2018, was nothing but a laughing matter. InHalloween Kills, he never cracks a smile. At Haddonfield Memorial, Barker sees the civilians he made a career out of protecting, turn on each other. After the chaos of the mob and the death of an innocent man from it, the Sheriff finds a quiet spot to sit and contemplate. He survives but something surely has died within him.

Cameron Elam (Dylan Arnold)

Cameron changes into a much more likable Haddonfield resident than he originally seemed inHalloween(2018). In his first scene, he comes to the aid of Deputy Hawkins and does his best to stop the officer’s bleeding. He’s also another Haddonfield resident who’s looking to hunt down Michael. Unfortunately, that proves to be what leads him to an unwelcome fate.

At the Myers House, after seeing the body of his father, Cameron gets his head smashed through a stair railing, swung up and around until he’s immobile. Then his head is twisted to a very wrong angle by Michael, breaking his neck.

Lindsey Wallace (Kyle Richards)

Another kid that Laurie looked after in 1978 and a legacy character that hasn’t been portrayed in any of the prior sequels, Lindsey was a welcome addition toHalloween Kills. When the moment comes for her to encounter Michael after all this time, she doesn’t do it without getting armed. The bad news is, a trick-or-treat bag full of bricks isn’t enough to stop the Boogeyman; the good news is, Lindsey once again survives a run-in with Michael, traumatized but left alive.

Marion Chambers (Nancy Stephens)

An ex-assistant to Dr. Loomis, Marion is among the social circle of Tommy, Lindsey, and Lonnie. She too recalls the terror Michael left behind decades ago. In a callback to her first encounter with the escaped mental patient, Marion once again finds herself in a car being attacked by Michael on the roof. However, she doesn’t get to leave the vehicle this time around. This is the second time a version of her character doesn’t make it to the end, the first being inHalloween H20.

Lonnie Elam (Robert Longstreet)

Keen-eyed fans will remember Lonnie as the kid who bullied young Tommy and who unsuccessfully attempted to sneak into the Myers house back in 1978. Now grown up and the father to Cameron, Lonnie has patched things up with Tommy, and two men are the ones who start the hunt for Michael. This ends poorly. Lonnie goes into the old Myers house by himself but doesn’t come out alive, his body later found propped up in the attic door.
