Tom Hardy’s new action movie,Havoc, has only been streaming on Netflix for a couple of weeks, but it has been anything but well-received by general audiences. After debuting with asolid critics' scoreonRotten Tomatoes, it seemed likeHavocwas heading in the right direction, but fans have been much harsher on the film than reviewers. Hardy’sHavocfinished last week with a 40% score from critics onRotten Tomatoes, which has since dropped to37%, which makes it one of Hardy’s 10 lowest-rated movies ever. While the film was promoted as a bone-crunching, no-holds-barred action thriller,audiences have criticized the weak writingof the characters and overuse of CGI during fight scenes that detracts from any realistic feel.
Havocwas written and directed byGareth Evans, who is best known for his work onThe Raid: Redemptionand its sequel,The Raid 2. Evans also recently worked on the Sky original seriesGangs of London, which follows the turbulent criminal underworld in London as it falls under a power vacuum. In addition to Hardy,Havocalso features Star Wars veteransTimothy OlyphantandForest Whitaker. Olyphant first appeared as the wrangling space cowboy Cobb Vanth inThe Mandalorian, and he even reprised that role inThe Book of Boba Fett. Whitaker is famed for his role as Saw Gerrera inRogue One,Andor, and evenStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.Jessie Mei Lialso stars opposite Tom Hardy inHavoc, and she’s best known for her work inLast Night in SohoandShadow and Bone.

The show stars Hardy as Harry Da Souza, a fixer caught in the middle of two warring crime families.Pierce BrosnanandHelen Mirrenplay the leads of the crime families. Hardy also stars alongsideJoel EdgertoninWarrior, the classic boxing movie that earned a 92% rating from audiences onRotten Tomatoes. The film was directed byGavin O’Connor(The Accountant 2), who recently provided anupdate on the long-reportedWarriorTV series, saying that he hasn’t given up hope for it yet.
