There’s only one episode remaining inGuy Ritchie’s new crime series,MobLand, which features a top-heavy roster of talent. Leading the charge isTom Hardyas Harry da Souza, and starring alongside him arePierce BrosnanandHelen Mirrenas Conrad Harrigan and Maeve Harrigan, respectively. The show follows Souza, a street-smart fixer who finds himself in the middle of two families warring for power.The Harrigans are an Irish crime familywho operate in London inMobLand, and one of the stars has come under fire for his Irish accent. Fans have criticized Brosnan’s accent in the series, so much so that he’s finally clapped back at the haters. During an interview withRadio Times, Brosnan, who was born in Ireland and moved to England when he was young, spoke about this and even mentioned how much Conrad’s accent differs from his own, which made things more difficult:
“My own accent is very soft. Conrad’s accent is a million miles away from me. I told him [dialect coach] that I needed a Kerry accent. So he gave me the name of a man, and I googled the guy and that was it. It was a Kerry accent. And so, I just gave it full tilt.”
Paramount has yet to announceifMobLandwill be renewed or cancelled after Season 1, but the show has been a consistent mainstay in the streamer’s top 10 since its premiere. It’s also been mostly well-received by both critics and audiences, leading to it earning a 74% from the former and a 73% from the latter on the aggregate siteRotten Tomatoes. The show was written and created for television byRonan Bennett, withJez Butterworthalso contributing to the teleplay. If the scribes and potentially even Guy Ritchie are interested in coming back for more and have nailed down a story that makes it worthwhile,MobLandwill likely be renewed. The star power in the series alone is enough to keep fans coming back.
Will Pierce Brosnan Ever Play James Bond Again?
Pierce Brosnan first playedJames Bondin 1995’sGolden Eye, and he last suited up as the character in 2002’sDie Another Day. The role was passed toDaniel Craig, who poured his heart and soul into playing 007 for more than 10 years. The future of James Bond has been in limbo for a while now as fans attempt to speculate on who could play the next famous spy, and Brosnan has admitted thathe would come back to play Bond if he were asked. If this were to happen, it would likely only be a small cameo or one-off, asAmazonis surely looking for its next 007 to be someone younger who can carry the franchise for years to come.
