Game of Thronesfans’ gather up.George RR Martinhas given another amazing update about the ever-expanding universe of the long-running franchise. While we know the third season ofHouse of the Dragonis now in production, Martin teasedA Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which will tell the story of Duncan and Egg, in his latest blog post. While we have seen a small tease of the upcoming show,only concrete details have come from Martin by far.
Adding to the long list of reveals he has made about the show, the fan-favorite author revealed that he’s quite impressed by the final cuts of the series: “A Knight Of The Seven Kingdomswill come first. Six episodes, the HBO adaptation of the first Dunk & Egg novella, “The Hedge Knight,”” he wrote adding,
“I just watched it again last week, the latest cuts. It’s looking good, I think. I love it lots, but I’m not one to judge.”
The author also gave fans an update onthe planned second season of the seriesas well revealing the team is working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring Dunk and Egg’s second adventure to life, “Meantime, in London Towne,Ira Parker and his team are huddled together beating out “The Sworn Sword,” the second Dunk and Egg adventure.” He further added, “It is such a joy to see the characters come alive, so vividly. Watching them makes me want to start writing the next novella tomorrow… but of course, I can’t. Too many other things to do.”
What’s ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ About?
The upcoming series will be set roughly a century before the events of the originalGame of Thronesseries. When two unlikely heroes wander Westeros: a young and naive but courageous knight,Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg, as they face a series of dangerous exploits. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and images of the last dragon have not yet passed from living memory, great destinies and powerful foes await these improbable and incomparable friends.
