Among the early 2000s superhero movies, one of the betterFantastic Fourfilms was made by 20th Century Fox (now acquired by Disney). The movies starredIoan Gruffuddas Mister Fantastic,Jessica Albaas Sue Storm,Chris Evansas Johnny Storm, andMichael Chiklisas The Thing. As Marvel Studios is set to bring many Fox X-Men characters back to the fold with the upcomingAvengers: Doomsday,the fans are eager to see the OGFantastic 4in theRusso Brothers-directed movie. In a recent interaction with a fan, Gruffudd was asked about the same, and he had a sly answer.
“If they invited me, in a heartbeat,” Gruffudd said when asked if he’d come back to play Reed Richards again. When he was specifically inquired aboutDoomsday, Gruffudd was quick to dismiss. “No, not at all. I haven’t been invited.” While the actor has completely denied it, fans are smart enough to understand that Marvel snipers are everywhere!
Even if Gruffudd is part of any upcoming movie in theMCU, he can’t reveal his casting, yet. Furthermore, indeed if he isn’t a part ofDoomsday, hopefully he could appear inFantastic Four: The First Steps, which would make a great feature to return while the impending sense of doom prevails thanks to Galactus. Or he can be a part ofAvengers: Secret Wars,which will pit our favorite heroes against each other. On a side note, beforePedro Pascaltook up the mantle of Reed Richards,John Krasinskiplayed an alternate version of the character inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which gives fans hope to see the Council of Reeds in the franchise before the Multiverse Saga ends.
Who Else is in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’?
As the production began onDoomsday,Marvel played the game of musical chairs and gave us the names of some of the cast members. Freshly minted,New Avengerswill be a part of the roster includingFlorence Pugh,Wyatt Russell,David Harbour, andSebastian Stanalong with Bob akaLewis Pullman.Chris Hemsworthwill reprise Thor and theCaptain America: Brave New WorldstarAnthony Mackiewill join the cast. Furthermore,Fantastic Four: The First Stepscast i.e. Pascal,Vanessa Kirby,Ebon Moss-Bachrach, andJospeh Quinnwill return.
Also making a return are the OG X-Men,Patrick Stewartas Professor X,Ian McKellanas Magneto, andJames Marsdenwill return to play Scott Summers/Cyclops.Rebecca Romijnwill return to play Mystique whileAlan Cummingwill also reprise his role as Nightcrawler. Joining them isChanning Tatumas Gambit, reprising his role fromDeadpool & Wolverine.
