The superhero genre might be stuffed full of options, led by the all-conqueringMarvel Cinematic Universe, but that hasn’t stopped some from breaking boundaries and offering fresh new takes that seem to unite fans of the often divisive genre in harmony. One such success was the British seriesSupacell, which debuted in the Summer of 2024 to much more acclaim than even its own creator,Rapman, had likely expected.

Led byDoctor WhoalumTosin Cole, the show powered its way into the Netflix global top 10 anddeservedly earned itself a second season renewal. Ever since that Season 2 renewal, fans have been speculating what might be next in store for Michael Lasaki (Cole) and the rest of the sickle cell superheroes, especially following the mind-blowing finale of Season 1. Well, thanks toRadio Times, Rapman has given fans their biggest update yet on what the second season might involve. “It gets dark, that’s all I can say! It gets really, really dark. If you followed season one and you saw how things ended, the emotions are just… everything’s running higher now.”

Rapman Has Already Confirmed His Intentions for the Entire Series

Not expectingSupacellto be the hit it was, creator Rapman will be forgiven for excitedly planning the entire series in his head with the confidence of someone enjoying the ride. With the world ofSupacellset to open further after it was confirmed in the Season 1 finale thatmore superpowered beings exist in the world, the potential for an ever-expanding story is evident, and, should interest remain and viewership stay high, the possibilities forSupacellare arguably endless.

For Rapman, his passion project was always intended to be athree-season story, with the creator saying, “For the beginning of the show, I always tell everyone that season 1 of Supacell to me is like Batman Begins. It’s just beginning. You’ve got to see where it goes next to see who these people really are.” He then said, prior to the debut of Season 1, “I suppose we have to see how season 1 performs, but I know I’ve very much made clear that I want to do three seasons minimum.” He added, “I’ve got a three-season story in my head. [I’m] not saying it can’t go over. But right now I know where it goes to. I know where… what the story is from up to season 3.”
