Monohan had previously teamed up withRidley ScottforKingdom of Heaven, and he more recently worked withLiam NeesononMarlowe. He’s also known for his work as a scribe onMojave, the 2015 crime drama starringOscar IsaacandGarrett Hedlund. For Scorsese,The Departedcame two years after he worked with DiCaprio onThe Aviator, and he also reunited with the star four years later forShutter Island. The duo most recently teamed up withRobert De NiroforKillers of the Flower Moon, which is currently streaming on Apple TV+.

Martin Scorsese Has a Project in the Works With The Rock

Martin Scorsese has been tapped to direct a currently untitled crime drama set in Hawaii that stars Leonardo DiCaprio andDwayne Johnson.Emily Blunthas also been cast in the film, and after starring opposite Johnson recently inThe Jungle Cruise, the duo will reunite later this year inThe Smashing Machine, the A24 MMA biopic byBenny Safdie. Details about the untitled Scorsese drama are being kept under wraps, butit will reportedly follow a local crime boss in Hawaii who battles to protect his ancestral landwhile also fighting to transform the islands’ criminal underworld.
