Things are looking up for Warner Bros.’ DC Expanded Universe.Suicide Squad, the follow-up to this year’s less than stellarBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, was a risky prospect for the studio because of its villain-centric premise featuring a bunch of comic-book characters general audiences know nothing about. But if early box office tracking is to be trusted,Suicide Squadwill be just fine. Per a report from THR, early numbers onSuicide Squadforecast an opening as high as $125 million with the potential of climbing even higher. For comparison,Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, featuring two of the most iconic comic book characters in history, opened to $166 million, so ifSuicide Squadcomes even close to that it will be a major success for the studio. And withBatman v Superman, the end problem was it had no legs at the box office and quickly slowed down over the ensuing weeks, closing with only $330 million at the domestic box office.
