Chances are you have already seenSuicide Squad, and you probably stand somewhere in between the wide spectrum from loving it to hating it, since it has clearly been a divisive film. And whileSuicide Squadwill likely be a topic of discussion for a while, we do have to continue to set our sights on what is to come in the world of superheroes in movies and television, so let’s get to it. This past week, two-parterAvengers: Infinity Wargot new titles,Spider-Man: Homecominggrew its cast,Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2was said to include no Infinity Stones,Mark Ruffalowrapped his scenes forThor: Ragnarok, and more. See what you missed below.
‘Avengers: Infinity War’: Two Parts Get New Titles
will be an event of epic proportions inAvengers: Infinity War – Part IandAvengers: Infinity War – Part II, except that now when the films hit theaters in 2018 and 2019 respectively, they will havenew titles. It was revealed very early in the week by Marvel Studios thatAvengers: Infinity War – Part Iwill now be known asAvengers: Infinity War, and what was previously known asAvengers: Infinity War – Part IIhas been given the temporary title ofUntitled Avengers.Christopher MarkusandStephen McFeely, who are writing both films, also gave anupdate on the scripts, pointing out they were “on the third draft of movie one and the second draft of movie two.” Personally, I like the decision of giving the films distinct titles, but what’s interesting is why they decided to reveal this when they apparently have no title for the second movie. Have they just not thought of a clever title, or maybe they don’t want to give it away just yet?
‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’: UFC Fighter Tyron Woodley and Comedian Martha Kelly Added
For those who were there to see it,Spider-Man: Homecominggot a lot of people excited in their Comic-Con panel, even those who just read or heard about it. TheJon Wattfilm is currently shooting in Atlanta and yet continues to grow its cast, thistime by two. According to reports,Spider-Man: Homecomingenlisted the talents of UFC fighterTyron Woodleyand comedianMartha Kelly, both in roles that have yet to be identified, something we have also said about other cast member’s roles, but keep in mind there isn’t really a whole lot that we know about the film in general.
‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’: There Will Be No Infinity Stones
MCU big bad Thanos has been on the hunt for the Infinity Stones for a while now, and while we have seen most of them up to this point, he has yet to collect a single one in any of the films, and apparently it won’t happen inGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2either, because thefilm won’t even feature a stone at all. While answering fans questions, directorJames Gunnconfirmed the fact that we will see “infinity nothing” in the sequel, adding that the film will be “a story about the Guardians and isn’t meant to lead to anything else.” Thanos has been teased as a very powerful villain and we have seen very little of him, the most being precisely inGuardians of the Galaxy, and while I would like to see more of this huge villain that they’re leading up to in the MCU, it is encouraging to know this sequel will focus on the Guardians rather than building up to something else.
‘Thor: Ragnarok’: Mark Ruffalo Finishes Filming
The Hulk himselfMark Ruffalohas been open in sharing bits of his journey from filmingThor: Ragnarokon social media, and while the film has only been shooting for a short time, Ruffalo has apparentlyfinished filming all of his scenes. Ruffalo took to his Instagram this week to announce the conclusion of his work onThor: Ragnarok, thanking Marvel, the director, and some of the cast. What we can take away from this is that we’ll be seeing a lot more of Hulk than we will of Dr. Bruce Banner, something that we were told by Ruffalo to expect a while ago.
‘The Flash’ Season 3: Flashpoint Storyline Won’t Last All Season
At this point, it’s a known fact thatThe FlashSeason 3 will be featuring the famous Flashpoint storyline, and the question that presented was if it would be the main plotline for the entire third season, but according toGrant Gustin, that won’t be the case. During an interview, Gustin confirmed that Flashpoint won’t last for all of Season 3, but that the event will have “permanent ramifications.” We are still left to wonder exactly how long the Flashpoint arc will be in the season, and what those ramifications of Barry’s decision are, but for that we will have to wait for the return ofThe Flash.
