Vanessa Kirbyis riding high on the success of Marvel’sThe Fantastic Four: First Steps, which marks her entry in the MCU as thesuperhero with a strong maternal instinct, Sue Storm. Now the actress is continuing the momentum with her next release,which will again see her in the protective matriarch mode in Netflix’sNight Always Comes.

The movie, based on the 2021 novel of the same name by authorWilly Vlautin,is directed byAndor’sBenjamin Caron. Written byMaternal Instinct’sSarah Conradt,it followsKirby as Lynette, a woman who risks everything to secure the house that represents a future for her family. Things take a turn one night when Lynette plunges into a desperate and increasingly dangerous all-night search to raise $25,000. Given Kirby’s recent performance, no doubt, she’ll be brilliant in the upcoming role.

The story will explore themes of gentrification, greed, and the American Dream as Lynette tries to secure her and her child’s future. The movie reunites Kirby with Caron as the two previouslycollaborated onThe Crown.Along with starring in the film, Kirby is also producing the thriller. Along with Kirby as Lynette, the movie has a cast full of compelling performers, includingJennifer Jason Leighas Doreen, Zack Gottsagen as Lynette’s older brother Kenny, along withStephan James,Randall Park,Julia Fox,Michael Kelly, andEli Roth.

Kirby has always given us a range of characters to swoon over, be itThe Crown, theMission: Impossiblefranchise, orTheFantastic Four. Her Marvel stint has been quite fruitful as fans loved her appearance as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman. The movie that also starsPedro Pascal,Joseph Quinn, andEbon Moss-Bachrachhas earned$370 million worldwide. Currently, Kirby is filmingAvengers: Doomsdayalong with the other cast members in England. She is expected to continue her stint in the follow-up,Avengers: Secret Warsas well. The movies are slated for 2026 and 2027 releases. TheAvengersmovies usually have a long schedule, leaving very little time for the actors to pursue other projects; nonetheless, outside the Marvel banner, Kirby is also set to appear inRuins,written byAmy Taylor,where she’ll star opposite another Marvel vet,Sebastian Stan.
