One PieceSeason 2 is set to premiere soon, and the coming season of theNetflixlive-action adaptation is bringing with it the return of Luffy and the Straw Hats. Season 2 will introduce a host of new characters, includingJoe Manganiello, who will play Mr. 0, aka the “Desert King” Sir Crocodile. Season 2 might not have premiered yet, but there were already fan theories and speculation that a third season was already in the works. Well, now,it’s all systems go for a third season ofOne Piece,as Manganiello has confirmed thatfilming on the season will commence in the later part of 2025.

In a recent interview, Manganiello mentioned the production break between seasons and teased his upcoming return to set, which suggests that the journey across the Grand Line will be smooth sailing for another season. Confirmation comes viaOP_Netflix_Fanon X where Manganiello reveals, “We’ve taken a break between Season 2 and Season 3, I’ll be heading back later on this year, and we’ll be working on the next part of the story. So that’s about all I can say.” Manganiello’s comments certainly come as welcome news at a time when fans of the live-action were worried about the show’s future following the departure of its showrunner,Matt Owens,earlier this year. A Writers Guild of America listing had previously hinted thatproduction on Season 3 would run between 2025 and 2026, and Manganiello’s comments have now confirmed that.

New Foes, New Locations, and New Challenges in ‘One Piece’ Season 2

Filming on Season 2 wrapped in February 2025, with the return of our main Straw Hat cast inIñaki Godoyas Monkey D. Luffy,Mackenyu as Zoro,Emily Ruddas Nami,Jacob Romero Gibsonas Usopp, andTaz Skylar as Sanji. Netflix is yet to officially confirm a release date, but a prospective 2025 release has been speculated. A new season will feature the exploration of new locationssuch as Loguetown, Little Garden, and Drum Island.

Season 2 will likely continue to test the resolve and strength of Luffy and the Straw Hats, positioning new challenges and villains to defeat along the way.Manganiello’s Crocodile will be a formidable villain who will not be vanquished in Season 2if the actor’s comments on Season 3 are to be believed. Leader of the criminal syndicate Baroque Works, Crocodile will have the likes of Nico Robin (Lera Abova),aka the Devil Child, andDavid Dastmalchian’sMr. 3to call up. New foes mean the Straw Hats also need to step up, andMakenyu has every intention of doing so with Zoro, saying previously:

“The first season I was trying to find how to bring Zoro to life. That was my main goal for season one. But for season two,the goal was to make him a lot deadlier and cooler,just level this badass character up.”
