Although it’s still only August and there’s plenty of summer remaining, it’s never too early to startpacking for a visit to Halloweentown. Loungefly is already preparing for the spooky season with a ghoulish new collection based entirely onTim BurtonandHenry Selick’s 1993 gothic stop-motion animated classic,The Nightmare Before Christmas. Featuring backpacks, crossbody bags, a jacket, and more, the collection is packed with a wide range of goodies for fans of Jack Skellington, Sally, or even the villainous bag of bugs, Oogie Boogie. Ahead of the release, Collider has an exclusive look at all nine items coming soon from the pop culture accessory and apparel brand.

Depending on which half ofThe Nightmare Before Christmas’shaunting coupleyou prefer, or if you’re a fan of Jack’s adorable ghost dog with a pumpkin nose, Zero, Loungefly has a backpack themed for them. The Pumpkin King of Halloweentowngets the honor of a full-sized backpack decorated based on his dapper suit and bat bow-tie, while both Zero and Sally instead have haunting mini backpacks themed to fit their spectral and stitched-together forms. Zero’s nose even glows in the dark, making the pack perfect for navigating foggy nights. For staying warm while trick-or-treating, there’s the newwindbreaker jacket featuring Sally, available in a Halloween-appropriate purple and black, perfect for completing an outfit with her pack and a zip-around wallet that matches her undead skin. Completing the set are three bags, including the returning crossbody bag inspired by the Mayor-mobile, a Crossbuddy pack that ensures Oogie Boogie is always close by and glowing green at night, and a striped handbag topped with a Jack’s tie.

When it comes to adding some bling to these new accessories, the whole thing starts with a box. A mystery box, to be precise, that comes with a selection of charms based on the residents of Halloweentown. The keychains transform Jack, Sally, Oogie, Zero, the Mayor, and Vampire Teddy into backpacks for a little backpack-ception, if you plan to attach them to one of the new bags. Loungefly has released these with their previousNightmare Before Christmassets, though it’s getting a much-needed restock to accompany the new items, with the aforementioned Zero backpack and Mayor-mobile bag also among the returning products.

Why Has There Never Been a ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas 2’?

Throughout the holiday season,The Nightmare Before Christmashas remained a go-to classicfor how it marries together twisted gothic visuals with seasonal cheer, the unique tone of Burton, andthe stop-motion artistry of Selick. Not to mention, it’s among the best soundtracks composed byDanny Elfman, who also provides his singing voice to Jack alongside a delightful cast includingChris Sarandon,Catherine O’Hara, William Hickey, Ken Page, Paul Reubens,Glenn Shadix, andEd Ivory. Despite the enduring love for the spooky favorite and all the merchandise made around it, a sequel is unlikely to ever rise from the grave. Burton, for his part, has been content toleave Jack’s story as a standalone tale, and Selick told Collider back in 2022 that a sequel would likely have toabandon its signature, painstaking stop-motion lookfor Disney to give the green light. Although Burton has successfully revisited a past hit withBeetlejuice Beetlejuice, it may be best for Halloweentown to remain as it is.
