Promising Young Womandoesn’t want you to feel comfortable. In many ways, the movie tells you what it is right from the beginning. You think you’re watching with a certain expectation in mind, an educated guess for how the story will go, and then the script pulls the rug out from under you when you least expect it to and leaves you struggling to reconcile everything you’ve just watched, replaying it all in your mind for clues about where it all could’ve gone sideways....

The wonderfully weird BBC America seriesDirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, adapted from the novels byDouglas Adams(The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy),follows the fast-talking, eccentric Dirk Gently (Samuel Barnett), who is hired to investigate the case of a murdered millionaire. Dirk’s philosophy hinges on the interconnectedness of all things and, as a result, he believes that he and Todd Brotzman (Elijah Wood), a bellhop at the hotel where the body was found, are destined to untangle the mystery together, even though Todd may not be as willing to embrace that notion....

One of the standout moments fromSunday’s Emmy Awards showwasSarah Paulson. Dressed in a green sequin dress, the actress won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her performance ofMarcia ClarkinAmerican Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson.
