Annapurna Pictures has released the firstMissing Linktrailer, revealing the latest stop-motion animated film from the prestigious LAIKA Animation Studios. Written and directed byChris Butler, who previously wrote and helmed LAIKA’s terrific ghost storyParaNorman, this new film revolves around a creature named Mr. Link (Zach Galifianakis) who recruits a fearless explorer (Hugh Jackman) to help him find his long-lost relatives in the fabled valley of Shangri-La. The comedy series that spawned three movies is a fresh and fun look at a detective who doesn’t really know what he’s doing in the best possible way. Pairing MacFarlane and Neeson for such an outrageous project is actually pretty perfect....

The upcoming superhero movie focuses on Arthur Curry/Aquaman (Jason Momoa) who must go to his mother’s home world of Atlantis and assume the throne in order to fight his nefarious brother, Orm (Patrick Wilson). I honestly have no idea how I’m going to write about this movie’s advertising for the next five weeks. I get that Warner Bros. has a movie to promote, it’s their big holiday tentpole, and they’ve got some serious competition from other movies....

Actress and singer DameOlivia Newton-John, best known for her iconic role as Sandy inGreaseas well as hit singles like “Physical,” has passed away at the age of 73. The news was broken in a statement from her husband John Easterling on Facebook, who asks for privacy for the star’s family and friends. “Dame Olivia Newton-John (73) passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends,” wrote Easterling....

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has entered the digital age at last. After years of members asking for a way to stream all those Oscar screeners from home, instead of using wasteful physical DVD screeners, the Academy sent a notice to voters on Thursday that they’ll be able to stream contenders in the Best Picture category on the Academy’s screening website. Previously, Oscar voters had the ability to stream films competing in the documentaries, animated feature, and shorts categories, but opening it up to the Best Picture field is a massive change in procedure....
