Its heyday in film was the Golden Age of Hollywood with films likeThe Adventures of Robin Hood,Captain Blood,andThe Count of Monte Cristo. Its influence, though, is palpable in many a contemporary fantasy or science fiction movie likeThe Princess BrideandThe Mask of Zorro. A few full-blown swashbucklers still pop up every now and again.
