Paramount+ has changed the fate of theDexterprequel starringPatrick Gibson, months after a renewal was announced. Paramount came forward in April and revealed thatDexter: Original Sinhad been renewed for Season 2, a decision which has since been walked back. In a stunning move, Variety reports that the streamer has gone back on its word —Dexter: Original Sinhas been canceled and will not receive a second season, despite it being greenlit months ago.Dexter: Original Sinhad reportedly been stagnating for the last few months, with any plans to begin shooting another season not coming to fruition.
Today’s news dump isn’t all bad forDexterfans, though. Variety also reports that the second season ofDexter: Resurrection, the sequel series that brought backMichael C. Hall, is progressing quickly. Paramount is making plans to open the writers' room for Season 2. It’s important to note thatDexter: Resurrectionhas not yet been renewed for Season 2, but this show of faith fromParamountis certainly a good sign. As long as the writers can get a good story ironed out, the show should be in good shape to move forward with another season.

Episode 9 will premiere on August 31, with the finale coming on September 5. The show has been well-liked by both critics and audiences thus far, enough to register scores of 94% from critics and 86% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
