Shudder is teaming up with SFX makeup legendGreg Nicoteroon a brand-newhorror competition seriestitledGuts & Glory.The upcoming competition show will feature six episodes where participants will compete against each other in unexpected challenges thatflip the script on traditional game shows.The unscripted show promises to be an immersive horror experience involving SFX makeup and is expected to premiere on both Shudder and AMC+ later in 2025.
In a press release fromAMC Networks, Nicotero describedGuts & Gloryas a mix ofSurvivorandThe Blair Witch Project.The makeup artist expressed his excitement about what he believes isone of his most creative and organic projects.According to Nicotero, the show will include participantscreating FX that have to happen in real timeand capture honest reactions to their work. He also added several crew members fromThe Walking Deaduniverse who came together to bring the competition series to life.

Rob Fox,EVP of production for AMC Networks, has also shared his thoughts onNicotero’s unique conceptforGuts & Glory. According to Fox, the upcoming show will feature moments that “shock, surprise, and showcase” the depth of the horror genre. Fox believes that any seasoned horror fan knows the innovation that Nicotero brings to all his projects, and teased that the competition series will bea fresh take on the familiar genre.
Shudder Acquires Rights to ‘Abraham’s Boys’
Variety has exclusively revealed that Shudder and RLJE Films have acquired the rights toAbraham’s Boys. Written and directed byNatasha Kermani,he film is an adaptation ofJoe Hill’s short story of the same namethat is meant to be a sequel toBram Stoker’sDracula. Abraham’s Boysfollows Max and Rudy Van Helsing,played byBrady HepnerandJudah Mackey,respectively, as they discover their father, Abraham Van Helsing’s(Titus Welliver)dark past.
In a statement to the outlet, Kermani shared that she had a great time bringingHill’s “dark” and “gothic” storyto the screen. The director talked aboutshooting the film in Californiaand thanked her Los Angeles cast and crew for their hard work. “I’m so excited to now be able to share the film with audiences all over the world,” she added while speaking of the acquisition.
The news comes as Shudder gears up for its10th Anniversary celebrationwith a year’s worth of festivities that include special fan events, programming, custom merchandise, and more. The streaming service is also kicking off a nationwide screening tour called the“Shudder 10 Screening Series,”which will run from April 2025 through the fall. The series will feature a selection of Shudder, includingThe Amusement Park, The Medium, The Dark and the Wicked,Deadstream,and more.
Guts & Gloryis expected to premiere later this year. An exact release date has not been announced yet.
