Have you heard ofThe Greasy Strangler? Oh boy, genre fans, if you haven’t yet, you sure won’t forget, and believe me, this won’t be the last time. The latest fromElijah Wood’s(yes really!) horror production company SpectreVision,The Greasy Stranglergot its first and VERY not safe for work teasertrailer plus a release date last week. Called “2016’s most WTF movie” by The Daily Beast, the Sundance selection hits limited theaters and VOD on October 7.

Shane Black is no stranger to genre. While he’s mostly been known for his comedy favorites likeThe Nice GuysandKiss Kiss, Bang Bang,plus a little movie calledIron Man 3,Black is re-teaming with hisMonster Squadco-writerFred Dekkerto write and directPredator 4,titledThe Predator, expected to begin shooting later this year. Black also revealed on the Empire podcast that he is looking to earlySteven Spielbergas an influence saying he wants it mysterious, interesting, with the same sense of wonderment and newness thatClose Encounters of the Third Kindhad when that came out.
After briefly returning to video games inMortal Kombat X, Jason Voorhese is coming home for real. During E3 yesterday, five minutes of alpha footage made its way online showing off the new endeavor and revealing that gamers can play as both scared teenagers and Jason himself. According to Bloody Disgusting,Friday the 13th: The Gamereleases this fall for PC, PS4 and XBO.

Lots of people are looking to VR as the future of entertainment and now digital artist and graduate studentClaire Hentschkerhas blended new and old, takingStanley Kubrick’sclassic filmThe Shiningand creating a 360 degree VR experience appropriately titledShining 360. Hentschker uses Kubrick’s extensive use of the steadicam and the film’s signature long tracking shots for the photogrammetry. She hopes that people would have a vested interest in experiencing familiar scenes from the film in this new, fragmented way.

Recently it was announced that Fox would order a television adaptation ofWilliam Peter Blatty’siconic novelThe Exorcistto series. Starring Oscar winnerGeena Davispaired withRise of the Planet of the ApesdirectorRupert Wyattfor the pilot episode, the trades reported that Alan Ruck would be made a series regular. Ruck will play the Rance family patriarch who was once a successful civil engineer, Henry suffered a traumatic accident that left him permanently impaired. Now he finds himself a prisoner inside his own body, frustrated by his lack of progress and his inability to help his family in their time of need. Despite all this, he remains a warm, loving presence, and someone who will go to any lengths to protect the ones he loves.
