At the beginning of Season 6 ofThe Kardashians, viewers were promised a glimpse intoKim Kardashianmanifesting a new man in her life. The teaser trailer set it up as though there was a potential new man lingering in the background as Kim preps to renovate her home to include a “his” closet to match her own.But by the midway point in the season, it was pretty clear that the teaser was all smoke and no fire in several ways, only one of which is the failure to produce said mystery man. The Season 6 trailerpromised drama the series failed to deliveron in almost every aspect.
The season not only failed to deliver on many of the promised storylines that were teased in the trailer,but what the famous family did bring to the reality series this season was almost entirely expected.The Kardashianand Jenner sisters live their lives simultaneously through so many lenses, and most specifically through their social media accounts, whichdrive consumers to their personal brands. This life lived continuously online hasmade the family reality series somewhat redundant, as viewers have recently been limited to scenes from the Met Gala or brand promotions that have already been viewed online. Season 6 promised several storylines that completely fizzled, while the scenes that were expected weren’t enough to keep viewers fully invested.
The Season 6 Trailer Promised Drama ‘The Kardashians’ Didn’t Deliver
The season trailer made much of the potential for conflict between Kim andher older sisterKourtney Kardashianwhen theSKIMSfounder approached her older sister to appear in aDolce & Gabbanacollaboration campaign, which debuted in November 2024. The campaign was already released prior to the season airing,so what the reality series had to offer viewers was the potential drama between the sisters and how it might be resolved. In order for theLemmefounder to join Kim in the fashion campaign, it seemed like there was potential for both conflict and resolution after the sisters infamously fought over the fashion brand duringKourtney’s Italian wedding to Travis Barker in 2022.
While the season trailer promised tension between the sisters,viewers now know that Kourtney agreed to the campaign with little resistance and showed up with a relatively good attitudeconsidering she recently had a baby and has been very upfront about wishing to remain in semi-retirement. So, not only was there no drama as promised, but there was also still no resolution to the sisters’ongoing fight about presence and work-ethic, which remains a barrier in the sisters' lives. Season 6 was yet another missed opportunity for the sister’s to truly move past this issue, as Kim blithely ignores each of Kourtney’s passive-aggressive jabs.

The Trailer Relied On Editing to Produce Drama
The trailer also made much of a disagreement between Kim andKris Jennerover the allegation thatthe family’s favorite momager"swooped in" and stole Kim’s Hollywood agent. It was alleged in the trailer that this would be a point of contention involving not only Kris, but also the family’s jet-setting fashion model sister,Kendall Jenner. The trailer intercut scenes to suggest that Kendall was involved in the drama, angry over something Kim said. And yet, this all turned out to be nothing but clever reality TV trickery, since Kim barely got annoyed with her mom for borrowing her agent, which seemingly happened only one time,and there was never a major confrontation featured about it in Season 6.
There was also a scene in the trailer that was edited to appear like there was some emergency that happened on Kim’s lavish Hidden Hills property, which showed her in slow motion running across her lawn shouting “no.” Viewers now know this “tense” scene turned out to be simply a concerned mother not wanting her sons to do wheelies on the concrete with their Tesla ATV.A somewhat relatable, although completely undramatic moment.
The Kendall vs. Khloé Conflict Fizzled
Another set-up that failed to deliver was the promised confrontation between Kendall andKhloé Kardashian,about the way theGood Americanfounderspoke with her ex-husband earlier in the season. In general, Kendall expressed concern about her sister’s habit of switching up her behavior with her ex-partners when other people are around, from a sense of being judged for allowing those men who have harmed her to continue to be in her life.It was nice to see Kendall step into her role as producer while also demonstrating concern for her sister’s well-being, and the conversation set-up was similar to some of the most gripping moments from when the family filmed continuously together onKeeping Up With the Kardashians. But when it came down to confronting Khloé about her reaction and encouraging her to change her behavior, Kendall’s newfound confidence withered slightly on the vine.
Rather than a conversation where the Jenner sisters honestly worked through the issue with their older sibling,the confrontation remained a surface-level attempt to convince Khloé she could have been nicer to her ex-husband. Khloé simply agreed with her sisters that it is possible she could have been nicer, while explaining once again her feelings of hurt and anger overLamar’s behavior during their marriage. The sisters didn’t get to discuss the issues more deeply, because Khloé’s irritation with the subject was immediate and obvious. Though Kendall said she came away from the conversation with a better understanding of the way Khloé had shielded them from the brunt of Lamar’s behavior when they were younger, the audience already knew that was what happened. A sense of resolve was only partially achieved by the Jenner sisters finally catching up.
Overall, Season 6 of ‘The Kardashians’ Was Expected
The many coy hints that Kim continued to drop throughout the season, alluding to some potential romance, were vague enough that it was eventually clear that the series wasn’t actually going to deliver on producing any mystery man. By the end of the season, whentheSNL 50alumencouraged viewers to tune in for the next season to find out if she did end up dating anyone, it felt like just another empty promise.It is clear the era of the Kardashian/Jenner family sharing authentic and meaningful family moments is well and truly over.
Otherwise, Kim’s birthday was an expected “intimate” dinner party where her family and friends lavished her with praise.Even Kourtney’s slightly passive-aggressive wish that her sister would have more time for “family moments” in the upcoming year was completely expected. Since the sisters havenever resolved their argumentabout whether work-ethic or present parenting matters most, their tacit truce remains in place for yet another season.
Kim’s birthday wish for herself was equally expected, sincethe trend-obsessed legal-student/actressalways finds a way to align herself with whatever is relevant in pop-culture at the moment. Kim’s wish that the Menendez brothers receive an early release from their sentence for parricide, whose story was recently featured on a Netflix series produced by Kim’sAll’s FaircollaboratorRyan Murphy, is completely on-brand for her particular brand of prison reform. Season 6 struggled to deliver engaging storylines, and it was clear the famous family are tired of filming together,soThe Kardashianshas a lot to figure out before rolling into Season 7.
