TheThunderboltsteam got its name from Yelena’s (Florence Pugh) former soccer team, but it’s not until the end of the film that Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) announces them as the New Avengers. This title change kicks in after the post-credit scene, when Marvel doubles down and even showcases the first logo for the new team.Marvel Studiosbegan to amp up marketing by peeling back aThunderboltsbillboard to reveal its new title underneath (posted on X by jarrettsays), and then the official Marvel Studios account followed suit and revealed the first look atTheNew Avengerstitle card, which can be found below.

The ‘Thunderbolts’ Are Now ‘The New Avengers’

This news would be a bit more shocking if the recentAvengers: Doomsdaycasting announcement hadn’t confirmed that most of theThunderboltscast would star in the film. The only name not to make the jump to the next film isOlga Kurylenko’s Taskmaster, who dieswithin the first few minutes ofThunderbolts. However, it doesn’t appear this new team of misfits will be working smoothly with the other part of the Avengers team.

TheThunderbolts*post-credit scene shows the team clashing with the other part of the Avengers, who are led byAnthony Mackie’s Captain America. This is poised to lead intoDoomsday, similar toInfinity War, where the team was split in two and had to face Thanos while not being fully together. The post-credit scene also showsThe Fantastic Fourarriving on their ship, but it’s unclear at this time how they made it to this new universe after their battle with Galactus (Ralph Ineson).
