We’ll be getting our first gander at Wonder Woman, who is being played byGal Gadot, in a few months whenBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicebows nationwide. Early reports from inside sources have gone so far as to say that Gadot’s portrayal of DC’s biggest female character nearly steals the film away fromBen Affleck’s Batman andHenry Cavill’s Superman, but we’ll just have to wait and see about that. [Update:Take a look atnewly released concept art for the entire Justice Leaguehere.]
Beyond that, the bigger bit of anticipation belongs to the properWonder Womanfilm, which has been gathering a cast and is confirmed to be a post-WWI setting.Chris Pineis set to play her love interest, Steve Trevor, andConnie Nielsenwas recently signed on to play the mother of Gadot’s Amazon princess, withRobin Wrightrumored to be playing the main villain of the film. On top of that, the film co-starsLucy Davis,David Thewlis,Elena Anaya,Saïd Taghmaoui,Danny Huston, andEwan Bremner, and sports a script byJason Fuchs, who recently pennedJoe Wright’sPanand is reportedly scriptingDoug Liman’s space-heist film,Luna Park. And now we have a look at the official logo for the film, which will be released on June 23rd, 2017. The logo now adorns the film’s Twitter page and you’re able to take a look at it right below:

The biggest news aboutWonder Woman, however, is the return of filmmakerPatty Jenkins, who directed the Oscar-winning dramatic thrillerMonsterback in 2003 and has since been unable to get a gig directing anything but television. (To her credit, she’s helmed some solid episodes ofArrested Development,The Killing, andEntourage.) It’s a bit shocking that making the film that gotCharlize Therona well-deserved Oscar didn’t get Jenkins a slew of offers to direct major films, and it doesn’t speak well to Hollywood’s ongoing problem with hiring female filmmakers. I’ll avoid getting on my soapbox (for now), and just say that it’s good to see Jenkins back in charge of a big film that could get her a lot of attention.
