Animeis known for its over-the-top action and fight scenes, which often involve galaxies, creating countless powerful characters that engage in powerscaling debates. However, most fans only include male characters in these debates, but Usagi Tsukino, the titular character fromSailor Moon, is here to put some of those so-called mighty anime men in their place.

Many fans don’t know the true power of Usagi and the entireSailor Moonuniverse, which is whythis list will pit her against some of the most potent and popular anime characters that she can beat. This list will be based on known feats, hypothetical feats, abilities, powers, and fan opinion, to determine who she scales up to and how far she rises in the anime community in terms of strength.

10Sung Jin-woo

‘Solo Leveling’ (2024-)

Solo Levelingis undeniablythe most popular anime at the momentbecause of its excellent animation and stellar fights, with the protagonist, Sung Jin-woo, at the forefront. After gaining the ability to level up his rank, Sung went from the weakest Hunter to one of the most powerful, utilizing his resurrection ability and combat skills to annihilate all opponents in front of him.

Despite being in the limelight, theSolo Levelinguniverse doesn’t scale that high, so even though the fights are spectacular, they don’t compare to the scale ofSailor Moon.No leveling up can save Sung from the massive amount of firepowerand destruction Usagi possesses, instantly destroying him as if he were a speck of dust.

9Satoru Gojo

‘Jujustu Kaisen’ (2020-)

Another popular and badass character is Satoru Gojo, a leading figure and mentor inJujutsu Kaisen. He helps teach Yuji the ways of sorcery while remaining the most powerful figure in the universe. Villains plan ahead for him, demons can’t touch him, and other sorcerers idolize his strength, making him the center point of the series.

Despite his void making him nearly unbeatable inJujutsu Kaisen, it won’t be able to stop Usagi from wiping him out of existence in one blow. Pocket dimensions don’t work against her, andher existence is enough to eviscerate Gojo.Jujutsu Kaisenmay be one ofthe best modern anime, and Gojo may be the most popular new character, but he doesn’t compare to a universal level being.

8Giorno Giovanna

‘Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind’ (2018-2019)

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventurefilters through new protagonists with every chapter, and for the most part, they are powerful, but nowhere near some of the strongest characters. That was until Giorno Giovanna powered up his stand with the Requiem Arrow, making the gold experience subject the victim to infinite death loops.

This show may bean action anime masterpiece, but it lacks the overall power and abilities to compare with other stronger universes, such asSailor Moon. Giorno has impressive Hax abilities that can put the Sailor Guardian in jeopardy. Still,Usagi can rewind time and regenerate at the speed of light, meaning she can go back to before he had Requiem or heal from the attacks he reflected at her.

7Shinra Kusakabe

‘Fire Force’ (2019-)

After five long years,Fire Forcefinally returned with a third season, also announcing it will have another part air at the beginning of 2026, hoping to conclude the story. While the protagonist, Shinra Kusakabe, is powerful, he isn’t anything noteworthy until the manga reaches specific points. This list will hint at his strength, but won’t spoil anything directly, but anime-only fans may want to skip this section just in case.

Shinra becomes more powerful very quickly, showcasing more than just speed by becoming a near-omnipotent universal threat. However, Usagi is at least a universal threat, and most likely a multiversal being, making her nearly omnipotent as well. She may be slower, butSailor Moon has more abilities and feats compared to Shinra, giving her the edge in this close battle.

‘Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End’ (2023-)

One anime dominated the community in 2023, becoming a critical sensation and an overwhelmingly popular show.Frieren: Beyond Journey’s Endis a rare anime nowadays, but it did more than reinvent fantasy and set the bar for modern anime; it also introduced an overpowered female protagonist that fans would come to adore.

While a couple of the previous matchups could be debated,Usagi stomps Frieren in seconds, and there is no argument there. Frieren may be the most powerful character in her anime, but Usagi is on an entirely different level.Frierenis a fantasy masterpiece, and that is because it doesn’t go planetary, maintaining a mostly grounded story within its realm and limitations. However, that also means the protagonist has no chance against someone like Sailor Moon.

‘One Punch Man’ (2015-)

One Punch Manreturns with its third season in October 2025, and while many are nervous about the quality, they can at least be sure Saitama will be up to his usual tricks of one-shotting every enemy. However, he may have a harder time getting rid of Sailor Moon, as she won’t go down with one, or even one hundred of his usually serious and effective punches.

Saitama is among the characters who fans most often use to engage in powerscaling debates, and while many fans say no one knows how strong he truly is, they have at most seen him to be galaxy-level. He may get more powerful during a fight, butSailor Moon can annihilate entire universesand defend herself from more powerful attacks than anything Saitama can dish out.

One Punch Man

‘Bleach’ (2004-)

Bleach’s return did many things right, from the stunning animation and stellar direction to epic fights and subtle changes that enhanced the story. Yhwach leads the Thousand-Year Blood War arc as the main villain, aiming to destroy the established world and recreate it in his twisted vision.

He may be one of themost powerfulBleachcharacters, but Yhwach won’t be able to match Usagi’s hax, overwhelming power, and physical capabilities.Nothing Yhwach can do can damage Sailor Moon, making her literally invulnerable to everything he has. Moreover, her strength, speed, and abilities far outmatch his, meaning Yhwach would be little more than a petty foe for this galactic Sailor Guardian.

3Kaguya Otsutsuki

‘Naruto Shippuden’ (2007-2017)

Narutois one of the largest franchises in the world, andNaruto Shippudenset up Madara as the main villain until Kaguya Otsutsuki suddenly came out of nowhere as the master manipulator behind the scenes. While this twist was met with negative opinions, Kaguya became one of the strongest characters in the series, possessing the Rinnegan and control over it as an alien.

Kaguya is a powerful villain, but like some other characters on this list, she only scales to around planetary, whileUsagi is a million times more powerfulthan that. This power difference doesn’t take away from Kaguya, who possesses some hax abilities and inventive Jutsu strong enough to make her the ultimate enemy in her home series. Alas,Sailor Moonis too powerful a universe that got out of control.

Naruto: Shippuden

‘Dragon Ball Z’ (1989-1996)

While Shinra and Giorno put up the best fight against Usagi, the following two entries are arguably the closest in strength.Dragon Ballis the most important anime series, and Son Goku is naturallythe most important anime character. As the protagonist, Goku evolved from a martial artist to the savior of the universe, showcasing his remarkable prowess.

Goku has some impressive feats and has proven to have around universal-level strength. Alas, and quite unfortunately for him,Usagi is multiversal and has shown far more than he can muster. Sailor Moon has the power to create and destroy universes, something Zeno, the strongestDragon Ballcharacter, can do, but Goku cannot. He’s quite mighty, but even a Z warrior like Goku has limits.

‘Gurren Lagann’ (2007)

Finally, earning the top spot on this list is Usagi’s biggest challenge and the only character on here that may actually be able to defeat her, or at least put up the best fight. Simon the Digger is the protagonist inGurren Lagann, where he establishes a legacy by developing his strength and character to become the savior of the universe.

Power creep is nonexistent inGurren Lagann, as Simon develops the ability to do whatever he pleases, from throwing galaxies to becoming as large as the universe. Sailor Moon fought endlessly for a thousand years, destroyed and created universes, revived herself, and has the power of love. Simon, on the other hand, also has endless potential and the power to create and destroy at will. This matchup most likely goes to Simon, butSailor Moon is right there with him in terms of strength.
