Is This Really the End of ‘Yellowstone?

Of course, the question on everyone’s minds is whether this is truly the end ofYellowstone? Early reports called Season 5 the “final” season, with this Season 5B finale being referred to as a “series finale.” But more recently, the narrative has changed. Withthe announcement of a Rip and Beth-centered spin-off, outlets are now calling “Life Is A Promise” a “special” season finale rather than a series finale. The Hollywood Reporterrevealed that, just like the series premiere, “Daybreak,“Yellowstone’s fifth season would end with a “super-sized” finale, with an hour and a half runtime, on the Paramount Network. How it will play out still remains a mystery, and series star Luke Grimesisn’t sure that fans will be satisfied.

More than likely, it seems as if Paramount is trying to expand the Yellowstone Universe rather than end it.1923is set to return for its second and final season in February 2025, and other spin-offs, such as the contemporary-setThe Madison, the prequel series1944, and the (so far) chronically absent6666, are still in the works. But with Sheridan and Paramount pursuing a Rip and Beth-led series apart from the flagship show (somewhat akin to whatThe Walking Deaddid with all those spin-off continuation stories), maybe the network is simply hoping to bring all its content back under the same streaming banner. If the Rip and Beth series happens, it wouldn’t technically be considered the originalYellowstoneanymore, allowing Paramount to bring the show back under its own in-house streamer, Paramount+, as with the rest of Sheridan’s content.
